Rogue Agents was a collaborative, curatorial project and exchange between artist-led gallery, Auto Italia South East in London and Firstdraft Gallery in Sydney.
The project included a live performance night at Firstdraft Gallery on the 1 April 2017 and two workshops involving reading and collaborative banner making (the banner created formed the backdrop for the performance night). Extensive informal collaborations also occurred between Australian artists and members of Auto Italia in the form of writing, sharing, conversations and image production. Two Firstdraft Directors travelled to London to meet with the Auto Italia Directors in 2016.
The Rogue Agents project intended to collectively uncover and explore ideas around figures and bodies that can disrupt, subvert and redirect power. Rogue Agents explored alternative models of being and desiring from historical and folkloric interpretations to bio-technologies and body hacking. Diving off the platform of future dystopian transcendence the performance night explored disaster and escape with “buildings aspiring to exist as the cloud; the workers their data, a seamless flow into intangible mass…”
The night included performances and a temporary exhibition involving music, performance, image-production, staging and new narratives. Artists involved in the project were Holly Childs, Linda Dement, Angela Goh, Mette Hammer Juhl + Lorenzo Tebano, Spence Messih, Bhenji Ra, Victoria Sin and Pablo Jones-Soler.
The Keir Foundation is delighted to have been commissioning partner for this project.
